Moors Valley Railway

Project breakdown

All Aboard the digital train: Bringing the Moors Valley Railway online.

The challenge:

Transforming a captivating web design concept for the Moors Valley Railway into a fully functional website was the key objective. This involved integrating essential features to enhance the visitor experience and streamline operations for the railway.

The solution:

I translated the design concept into a user-friendly and interactive website within the WordPress CMS, incorporating the following functionalities:

Key features:

  • Engaging homepage – a visually appealing homepage showcasing the beauty of the Moors Valley Railway with high-quality images and videos. Clear calls to action will entice visitors to explore further.
  • Interactive railway timetable – an easy-to-navigate, real-time timetable will allow visitors to plan their trip efficiently. This could include features like filtering by departure time, destination, and special events.
  • Seamless events booking – an integrated event booking system will allow visitors to reserve tickets for special events, train rides with themed experiences, or dining packages. Secure online payment processing will ensure a smooth and convenient booking experience.
  • Personalised account section – a dedicated account section will allow users to register, manage bookings, view past purchases, and potentially even store favorite train rides or events for future reference.
  • Engaging Content Management System (CMS) – a user-friendly WordPress-based CMS allows the Moors Valley Railway team to easily update website content, post news and announcements, and manage the events calendar.
  • Responsive design – The website has been optimised for all devices, ensuring a seamless user experience on desktops, tablets, and smartphones – perfect for planning trips on the go.

This project was completed during my full-time employment working at Authentic Style.
